“We’re a busy family,” the woman said in defense
A woman is upset with how her husband is choosing to spend his time on the weekends.
In a post on the U.K.-based forum Mumsnet, the woman wrote that her 50-year-old husband works from home during the week for “not an especially tasking job.”
Highlighting that she will “do most household/parenting stuff, as I work school hours,” she further explained, “He does washing up in [the] evening and helps with homework, etc.” and “often takes youngest to football training on Monday night and the under 11s game on Saturday.”
“He has to do this because he drives and I don’t. He will often grumble about getting up Saturday but will do it,” the woman continued.
But, Sundays are different, according to the woman, who said her husband will leave household chores undone.
Recalling a recent instance when she “sprang out of bed at 8:15 to get started” on the tasks for the day, the woman continued, “Ten mins later, he appears in boxers, saying, ‘Can you be quiet, turn down the podcast and wash up more quietly?’ and went back to bed.”
“I went up to get uniforms from basket and he leapt out of bed huffing that he’s hardly slept and the housework could wait and I have woken the oldest. It was 9 a.m.,” she added.
Explaining that she reminded her husband “we’re a busy family and not hungover students,” the woman concluded her post by asking if he deserved the time to rest.

Mumsnet users flooded the comments section with responses, with many sympathizing with the husband.
“You should be more considerate of the noise you make,” one person wrote, as another said, “I am awake early, so I am often up by 8 a.m., but I do my best to make sure I am quiet. I get the dogs up and take them out and will quietly wash up and keep the noise from the TV down, so I don’t disturb.”
“I do this as I know he cherishes that one morning a week, and because I love and respect him,” the commenter added.
Others, meanwhile, went after the wife with more harsh responses, including one user who told her she was “being deeply, unfathomably and selfishly unreasonable.”
“Wow, I would be considering divorcing you if I were him. Sleep is sacred, and one [day] a week is not too much to ask,” said another.
