The supermodel has been enjoying some fun in the sun these past few days and sharing the photos with her followers on Instagram — including a sexy swimsuit snap.

On Sunday, April 6, the mom of three shared two photos of herself beaming in a red-hot string bikini and swimsuit cover-up while out cruising on a boat.

“Feeling optimistic and hope you are too! Wishing everyone bright sun shiny days ahead!” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model captioned the sizzling selfies.

The post comes two months after Brinkley celebrated her 71st birthday on Feb. 2. She rang in the milestone with a festive gathering (which she called a “surprise fiesta”) with her son Jack Brinkley Cook and daughters Sailor Brinkley Cook and Alexa Ray Joel.

“The laughter, the music, the friendships, family, the love… these are what I cherish the most and am ever so grateful for…magic indeed,” she wrote on Instagram.

Ahead of her 70th birthday last year, Brinkley spoke with PEOPLE about entering a brand new decade. “I think 70 is very similar to 50, in that it’s a time when you look both back and forward,” she said.

With candor, Brinkley admitted that as she approached the age, it “loomed over” her. But she hasn’t let numbers dim her outlook on life (and that means not retiring anytime soon). “I am so grateful every day when I get to go to work,” she shared. “It helps keep me feeling current.”

At the time, staying on the grind for Brinkley included launching a clothing line with HSN that was inspired by her Hamptons home. This year, she’s gearing up for the release of her new memoir Uptown Girl, which will hit shelves on April 29.

Per a statement shared with us, the book traces Brinkley’s life and career in her own words, beginning at the start of her famed modeling career, after being discovered outside a phone booth in Paris in 1974, to her work in the industry and onscreen in films like 1983’s National Lampoon’s Vacation.

The memoir also goes deep in Brinkley’s personal life, with the star sharing never-before-told stories about the “betrayal” she felt from her biological father, “harrowing experiences” that nearly ended her life and her four “tumultuous marriages,” including her divorce from singer Billy Joel.

Uptown Girl will feature over 100 photographs and pieces of Brinkley’s own artwork.
