The pause comes after McDonald’s started rolling out Krispy Kreme’s doughnuts in October 2024
- Krispy Kreme revealed it will not be expanding into more McDonald’s locations in a financial report
- The chains first announced their plans to sell doughnuts at McDonald’s locations in March 2024
- Krispy Kreme doughnuts are currently available at 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants
Krispy Kreme doughnuts’ rollout at McDonald’s was short but sweet.
The bakery chain revealed that it will not be expanding its partnership with the home of the Big Mac in a financial report shared on Thursday, May 8. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are currently available in 2,400 McDonald’s but the confectionary company is “reassessing the deployment schedule together with McDonald’s” and does not plan to launch in any additional locations during the second quarter, per the release.
The news comes just a few months after the brands announced their goal to have more than half of all McDonald’s restaurants in the United States serve Krispy Kreme doughnuts by the end of the year, which was revealed back in February. They also planned for the doughnuts to be available nationwide by the end of 2026.
But May’s financial report claimed that Krispy Kreme “continues to believe in the long-term opportunity of profitable growth” in U.S. expansion, like its collaboration with McDonald’s.

McDonald’s recently revealed its sales report for the first quarter of 2025.
The fast food chain announced that U.S. sales dropped 3.6% and global sales dropped 1% this year in an earnings release shared on Thursday, May 1.
But, according to the chain’s CEO in a conference call with investors, the weak sales in the first quarter were anticipated due to inflation and economic “uncertainty.”
While customers nationwide might not get their hands on a glazed doughnut, McD’s has some new and returning items to snag.
McCrispy Strips are the chain’s first permanent menu addition in four years. The McCrispy Strips are black pepper-flavored crispy breaded chicken and come with a new Creamy Chili Dip — a sesame and chili pepper sauce.
On April 15, McDonald’s revealed that the long-awaited Snack Wraps would be returning to menus sometime this year in a post on X. The chain teased the return of the discontinued menu item with a post that read, “snack wraps 0x.14.2025,” without specifying which month.
